Speaker Series with Apollo

In this speaker event, Jordan Lubkeman, Senior Associate at Apollo Global Management, presented on the firm’s highly successful $100 billion impact investing fund. Initiated in 2020, the fund invests in later stage companies across varied industries and geographic regions. Apollo actively seeks companies that generate positive impacts in five different categories, which in turn drives financial gain. The firm also informs their investing decisions with existing academic literature to predict whether a target company has the potential to effect impacts that are both significant and innovative within their industry.

In concluding the presentation, Ms. Lubkeman encouraged the audience to understand how the concept of ESG comes into play in various career paths and at different stages. A student hoping to join an impact investment sub-team will likely begin their career with a more traditional banking background. However, for others eager to embark on this mission, some faster paths would be to join a company’s sustainability arm or a philanthropic organization.
